By the end of the education program, participants will:

• Discuss factors that impact patient safety as it applies to physician assessment, including:
  
  1. An understanding of systems issues and how they impact medical care.
  2. How communication, physician behaviors, and local systems factors can affect physician performance and patient care.
  3. Clinical diagnosis reasoning, including educational strategies used to promote and enhance it.
  4. An understanding of diagnostic error and factors that contribute to it.
     
• Understanding current terminology/taxonomy used in the field of clinical decision making and diagnostic error.
• Discuss clinical decision-making and other relevant topics in small group sessions.
• Collaborate and strengthen relationships with colleagues in the area of physician assessment and professional enhancement.
• Learn about research and other projects being undertaken by members of CPE.
• Navigate the recently updated CPE web site, including how to access the newly formed repository of shared documents and tools that can be used and accessed by CPE members.
